Torch-on membrane is another method used on\u00a0flat roof top waterproofing<\/strong>, walls and structures. This creates a stronger membrane layer to protect against dampness, because it is made of bitumen and polymers. Thus, it is able to prevent water pooling with its water resistant surface. In addition, this method requires heat torching to allow it to melt onto the surface. Hence, this will create a watertight protective membrane.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Whilst\u00a0flexible cementitious membrane<\/strong>\u00a0is liquid chemical nature, torch-on membrane is sticky, not harmful to environment. It is highly effective, making it one of the most reliable membrane systems.\u00a0<\/p>

There are 2 types of torch on membranes:<\/p>

  1. Atactic Polypropylene Plastic modified asphalt (APP) that melts when we heat it with a torch.<\/li>
  2. Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) is a rubber modified asphalt that doesn\u2019t torch well.     Some of the reasons for using torch-on membrane is its feature as non water soluble, non biodegradable and non toxic. Besides that, it also acts as a seal and is able to support gutters and flower boxes.
